Ain't Nobody's Business What I Do (Granger, Williams, Prince)

It's the 4th of July and on that day traditionally I like to get fuckin' drunk off cans domestic and listen to loud blues. So here's a little blues number for you. All 7th chords:

Gb7 Bb7
I------I I------I
I--11--I I--15--I
I--9---I I--13--I
I--11--I I--15--I
I--9---I I--13--I
I------I I------I

B7 D7
I------I I------I
I--16--I I--10--I
I--14--I I--11--I
I--16--I I--10--I
I--14--I I------I
I------I I--10--I

Eb7 Ab7
I------I I------I
I--11--I I--13--I
I--12--I I--11--I
I--11--I I--13--I
I------I I--11--I
I--11--I I------I

Db7
I-----I
I--9--I
I--10-I
I--9--I
I-----I
I--9--I

You can also play the Bb7 and B7 on the 6th and 7th frets, respectively if you prefer. I don't give a shit what you do. Here is the words with the chords, let's all play together:
Gb7 Bb7
Since you left me baby, I'm out all night
B7 D7
Without you to say that everything's alright
Gb7 Eb7 Ab7 Db7 Gb7 Db7
Well it ain't nobody's business what I do
Gb7 Bb7
If I get drunk, sit all alone
B7 D7
Got blues in my head so I won't be home
Gb7 Eb7 Ab7 Db7 Gb7 Db7
Well it ain't nobody's business what I do
Gb7 Bb7
When there's no dice or poker I'm drinkin' in the bars
B7 D7
If the heels on both my shoes wear down well baby that's because
Gb7 Eb7 Ab7 Db7 Gb7 Db7
It ain't nobody's business what I do
Gb7 Bb7
I'm a night time man so if that's alright with you
B7 D7
I'll have breakfast at midnight 'till I find somebody new
Gb7 Eb7 Ab7 Db7 Gb7 Eb7
Meantime it ain't nobody's business what I do
Ab7 Db7 Gb7
It ain't nobodies business what I do

At the turnaround I like to do this:

I----------------------------------I
I-------------------------------9--I
I----11---11----11----11---11---10-I
I-------------------------------9--I
I--9----7--------------------------I
I------------11----10----9----9-9--I

And that's about it. There's a few different versions of this song out there, the version I like is by Davy Graham. When you listen to it you might find very little similarity between this version and his version. That's because Davy Graham is a bad ass. Deal with it.

Milk and Honey (Jackson C. Frank)...as played by Nick Drake

First things first, put a capo on the second fret.....

Okay, so the progression is a fairly simple descending Am with the same six chords for the whole song. I'm not totally smart with the chord names but I'll write them out:

Am (obviously) Am/G
I--0--I I--0--I
I--1--I I--1--I
I--2--I I--2--I
I--2--I I--2--I
I--0--I I-----I
I-----I I--3--I

Am/Gb Fmaj7(kinda)
I--0--I I--0--I
I--1--I I--1--I
I--2--I I--2--I
I--0--I I--0--I
I-----I I-----I
I--2--I I--1--I

E E7
I--0--I I--0--I
I--0--I I--0--I
I--1--I I--1--I
I--2--I I--0--I
I--2--I I--2--I
I--0--I I--0--I

And here is how it goes for the first verse, which is the same for all the verses:

Am Am/G Am/Gb Fmaj7
Gold and silver is the autumn moon
Am Am/G Am/Gb Fmaj7
Soft and tender are her skies
Am Am/G Am/Gb Fmaj7
Yes and no are the answers
Am Am/G E Eb Am E Fmaj7 Eb
Written in my true loves eyes

Okay, so that's basic shit. Here is the picking pattern which is a bit tricky. I use my thumb to play the bottom F note on the Fmaj7 chord, but that's just me.

Am Am/G
I----------0---------0----------0---------0---I
I------1h3-------1h3--------1h3-------1h3-----I
I----2---------2----------2---------2---------I
I---------------------------------------------I
I--0---------0--------------------------------I
I-----------------------3---------3-----------I

Am/Gb Fmaj7
I--------------0----------------0-------------I
I----0h1p0------------0h1p0-------3b----------I
I----------2----------------2-----------------I
I---------------------------------------------I
I---------------------------------------------I
I--2---------2---2--1---------1---------------I

Repeat that the three times and then:

Am Am/G
I----------0---------0----------0-------------I
I------1h3-------1h3--------1-----1---1-------I
I----2---------2----------2---2-----2---------I
I---------------------------------------------I
I--0---------0--------------------------------I
I-----------------------3---------------------I

E Eb Am
I---------------------------0-----------------I
I----------0------------1h3-------1-----------I
I------1-----1--------2---------2-------------I
I--------2-----0------------------------------I
I----2-----------2--0---------0-----0---------I
I--0------------------------------------------I

E Fmaj7
I---------------------------------------------I
I------0h1p0---0----------0h1p0---0h1p0---0---I
I-----------------------2-------2-------2-----I
I------------2---2----------------------------I
I----2-------------2--------------------------I
I--0------------------1-----------------------I

Eb
I------------0-------I
I----------0---0-----I
I--------1-------1---I
I------0-------------I
I----2---------------I
I--0-----------------I

...So that's basically one variation. Nick Drake's fingers had a mind of their own so often the position of the B string triplets change randomly and common Am hammer-ons are used. In other words, play it how you feel it. The intro is a loose variation of the main pattern and here is the outro:

I----------0----------------------------0---3-0-2-0--7--I
I------1h3---1---------3---1-0------0h1---2-0-0-0-0-----I
I----2---------2-0---2---2-2-1----2------------------5--I
I------------------4-------2-0--------------------------I
I--0----------------------------0-----------------------I
I-------------------------------------------------------I

I hope all that isn't too confusing. I was a little confused writing it. I have a feeling that Nick Drake played this song in a strange tuning as a lot of his songs were, which would most likely make it easier to play. This is just the way i've always played it, and it's pitch perfect with the recording. Also I should note that this is based on the version on Tanworth-In-Arden, and the version on Family Tree is slightly different in picking patterns. Here are the words:

Gold and silver is the Autumn moon
Soft and tender are her tides
Yes and no are the answers
Written in my true loves eyes

Autumn's leaving, and winter's coming
Think that I'll be moving on
I've got to leave her and find another hand
I've got to sing my heart's true song

Round and round the burning circle
All the seasons one, two, and three
Autumn leaves, then comes Winter
Spring is born and wanders free

Gold and silver bounds my heart on
All too soon they fade and die
Then I know there is no other
Milk and honey where they lie

Here's a link to the audio. It's some video on youtube with some random losers, but the music is right.

Let me know if any of this makes no sense or just totally sucks. I think it's a bit more accurate than most of the tabs for this song that are out there.

Peace,

Mandy Morton & Spriguns - Goodbye The Day (Mandy Morton)

Alright I'm back! This song is too easy and it's incredibly late and I'm beat so I thought it would be a nice one to post. Maybe almost unnecessary but it's one of my favorites so it's got to go up. I don't really know what this song is about but I would really like to. If anybody knows please share. I'm not going to put a link up to the audio right now, but you can listen to it on the Mandy Morton and Spriguns Myspace page, which is kind of ridiculous. Oh well. Enjoy.

Am
Goodbye the day that said the words
C G Am
That none should ever hear
Am
And brought a shadow to the land
C G Em
that dealt this blow of fear
Am C G Em
And the warlord stands with an axe in his hand
Am
Goodbye the day
Am
And goodbye the ships that left the land
C G Am
And sank beneath the sea
Am
And laid the sailors in the deep
C G Em
Where death has paid their fee
Am C G Em
And the warlord stands with an axe in his hand
Am
Goodbye the day
Am
And goodbye the fields of emptiness
C G Am
Where all our sons were slain
Am
And only ghostly battle cries
C G Em
Rise up and live again
Am C G Em
And the warlord stands with an axe in his hand
Am
Goodbye the day

(Instrumental Break, Same Chords)

Am
And goodbye the grave that told the tale
C G Am
Of them who stayed behind
Am
To build a generation

C G Em
Of peace to all our kind
Am C G Em
And the warlord stands with an axe in his hand
Am
Goodbye the day (repeat chorus to end)

Random Things of Little Importance

April and May just flew by me in a whirlwind of drunken fucked up oblivion. But I think I'm back to earth now. At least for the past couple of days I have been. I still have many guitar related things to share with you in my mind I just need to find time to work on them, and lately I've been working on more original music which takes precedence over all else. Maybe I should stop writing this garbage and write some tabs.......Okay, I'll be back in like an hour or some shit.

Chillin Too Hard

I've been slacking on this shit. I need to update soon. I may start adding random things. I have many songs I've learned but have yet to tab them out. I'll get on that.....

All The Good Times (Traditional)

Here is my all time favorite drinking song. There may not be much point in putting it up here because you can figure out how to play it in like two seconds, but maybe it will be helpful anyways. The chords are only G - C - D, and go like this the whole song:

G C G
All the good times are past and gone,
G D
all the good times are over.
G C G
All the good times are past and gone,
G
little darling don't you
D C G
weep no more.

Those words are the chorus, and should be sung after every verse, preferably by a large crowd of people all with beers in hand, totally shitfaced. Here are the rest of the words the way I like to sing them. The version of the song that I think is best is by Mr. Fox, here is a link to that. There's another more popular version thats more country style and is about a woman leaving and that's why all the good times are over. I say fuck that. Here are the words:

The singer has left his song on the air
The hunter has hung up his horn
After the day the long long night
and after the night the dawn

I don't want to sit at your table so bright
I don't want a bed on your floor
You can't hunt me down through the forests of love
And nail up my hide to your door

Forget all the tales i've threatened to tell you
Forget all the pains in your head
The meek and the weak shall inherit the earth
The savage and honest are dead

Build me a boat where the willows once grew
Where the vole and the otters swam free
Row me away from this desolate land
And make for the open sea

I hope those lyrics are right, it took me FOREVER to figure out some of the words. The first line of the third verse is the only one I have a good feeling might be wrong. If you listen to it and hear something else let me know.

Perry Leopold - The 35th of May (P. Leopold)

Here's one of my favorite songs from the Experiments in Metaphysics album. Maybe I'll post some more off of that album later. Put a Capo on the 4th fret for this one.

The song has one verse progression and one chorus progression and that is all. Here is the verse:

Aadd9 - E - G - Aadd9

(Aadd9 is just an Am with the B string open instead of the C note)

E I--------------------------------------I
B I-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0--I
G I-------2-----2-----------2-----2------I
D I---------2-----2-----------2-----2----I
A I---0-----------------0----------------I
E I--------------------------------------I

E I--------------------------------------I
B I-----0-----0-----0---0-----0----------I
G I-------1-----1---------1-----1--------I
D I---------------2----------------------I
A I---------2---------------2------------I
E I---0---------------0-----------0--2---I

E I--------------------------------------I
B I-----0-----0-----0---0-----0-----0----I
G I-------0-----0---------0-----0--------I
D I---------------0---------------0------I
A I---------2---------------2------------I
E I---3---------------3------------------I

E I--------------------------------------I
B I-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0--I
G I-------2-----2-----------2-----2------I
D I---------2-----2-----------2-----2----I
A I---0-----------------0----------------I
E I--------------------------------------I

Now here is the chorus part:

D - C - D - C

E I---------------------------------------I
B I-----3-----3-----3------3-----3-----3--I
G I-------2-----2------------2-----2------I
D I---0-----0-----0------0-----0-----0----I
A I---------------------------------------I
E I---------------------------------------I

E I---------------------------------------I
B I-----1-----1-----1---1-----1-----1-----I
G I-------0-----0---------0-----0---------I
D I---------2-----2---------2-----2-------I
A I---3---------------3-------------------I
E I---------------------------------------I

E I---------------------------------------I
B I-----3-----3-----3------3-----3-----3--I
G I-------2-----2------------2-----2------I
D I---0-----0-----0------0-----0-----0----I
A I---------------------------------------I
E I---------------------------------------I

E I---------------------------------------I
B I-----1-----1-----1---1-----1-----1-----I
G I-------0-----0---------0-----0---------I
D I---------2-----2---------2-----2-------I
A I---3---------------3-------------------I
E I---------------------------------------I

and thats it. Not too difficult if you ask me. Here are the words, which are a little bit hippie-dippie for me, but oh well. There's still a wierd cosmic quality to it.

Silver moonbeam on her hair
Blowing in the cool damp river air
Moving gently by the shore
Seems i've seen this night before
Like a dream she takes my hand
As I walk her in the sand
Love can bend so many ways
And I hope this angle stays

Love has come to me today
Remembered as the 35th of May

Stars twinkle in the sky
Nightingales sing nocturnal sighs
My love blends into natures breast
As we lay down to rest
Treasure abounds in my loves eye
I reap the fortune from on high
Silently she sings a song of love
As bells of joy ring out above

Love has come to me today
Remembered as the 35th of May

We made a pact of love tonight
Let two love eachother and mankind
Just then a light fired up the sky
Five hundred clouds had formed a smile
The gods had sent a breath of peace
Blowing 'cross the world from west to east
All wars have ended on this day
This is the 35th of May

What better goal could love achieve
Then to have all men live side by side in peace

Our love has symbolized the truth
Of all that blossoms in our youth
One day love might reign supreme
And I hope this isn't just a dream

and here is a link to the song.
